City of Kirkland Rental Relief Assistance Fund
A program for Residential Landlords – Intended to Assist Tenants Facing Housing Barriers

 

The Rental Relief Assistance Fund is now open for applications from residential landlords seeking to enter leases with tenants who meet program criteria. This program mitigates risk to landlords offering new leases to tenants in the City of who face barriers to stable housing and meet program criteria. Eligible landlords can receive a maximum of 6 grants per property, with each grant up to $1,200, paid to the landlord.

Eligibility Criteria - Landlord

A landlord may be eligible to receive a grant from the program if they meet the following requirements:

    • Landlord has a valid Kirkland business license
    • Landlord can provide required documentation of tenant eligibility

Eligibility Criteria - Tenant
Landlords with prospective tenants meeting ONE of the following criteria may be eligible:

    • Tenant credit score of 650 or below, OR
    • Tenant bankruptcy filing, OR
    • Tenant previous eviction within the past 7 years, OR
    • Tenant prior criminal conviction

Additionally, the Tenant must meet ALL the following criteria:

    • Seeking a new residential lease in Kirkland starting on or after February 15, 2023;
    • Residential lease sought is at least 6 months in duration;
    • Tenant has an annual household income at/below 120% of the Area Median Income (AMI);
    • Tenant agrees to release documentation of eligibility to Program administrators
